What are the nearest major cities/airports?

Medford, Oregon is the nearest major city/airport and is approximately 90 minutes/75 miles away from the park. Portland, Oregon is the next closest major city/airport and is approximately 5 hour/250 miles away. Please view our Directions page for more information.

Is Crater Lake National Park and Crater Lake Lodges open year-round?

Portions of Crater Lake National Park are open year-round, including the Rim Village Café and Gift Shop. Both Crater Lake Lodge and Mazama Village are open seasonally. Please visit the What to Know page for detailed information on dates.

What should I expect the weather to be?

Weather plays a dramatic role at Crater Lake National Park with an average annual snowfall of over 530-inches. It generally begins to accumulate each year in October and doesn’t melt in most places until the following June.

Summer weather is more predictable, with nice dry days with temperatures around 62°-70°F. The nights do get colder dropping into the mid 30°’s to low 40°’s. Occasionally there may be days in August when the lake is completely obscured by fog.

Visitors to Crater Lake National Park should be prepared for any kind of weather during any time of the year. We advise you to check weather websites for current forecasts as the weather can fluctuate. View our Crater Cam for a current view of Crater Lake near the Crater Lake Lodge. Is there cell phone and/or Internet service?

There is no reliable cellular service within Crater Lake National Park.

Is there a business center?

We do not offer a business center.

Is there an entrance fee to enter the Park?

The National Park Service currently charges $10 per vehicle at the entrance gate and $5 when entering by motorcycle. If entering by foot, bicycle, or commercial vehicles, the fees will vary5. Please visit National Park Service for the most current fee information.

Where is the nearest location to get fuel?

Mazama Village has self-service fuel pumps that are available May through October during business hours of the Mazama Village General Store. Currently only unleaded fuel is sold at Mazama Village. Propane is not available inside the Park.

How far in advance can I make lodging reservations?

We are currently accepting reservations for stays up to 13 months in advance. On the first of each month, we will begin accepting reservations for the entire month of the following year. For example, on December 1, 2011 we will accept reservations through December 31, 2012. For more information, please review our Reservation Policy.

Are there ADA compliant rooms at Crater Lake?

Crater Park Lodge offers a total of six accessible rooms. For additional details, please call Central Reservations at (800) 236-7916.

Do you have a waitlist for room reservations?

We do not offer a waitlist for room reservations.

Since you don’t have a waitlist, should I check back every day for a cancellation?

Cancellations do occur; however, they can occur at random with limited success in obtaining the dates and accommodations desired. If your first choice is not available, rather than scheduling your vacation around the possibility of a cancellation, we suggest checking alternate dates instead. If you want to continue to check for cancellations, you may do so by visiting our Online Reservations page.

Why can’t I find my reservation through the online reservation system?

Currently our online reservation system will only allow modifications or cancellations to reservations initially booked online.

Do I need dining room reservations?

Reservations are required at Crater Lake Lodge Dining Room. They are not required for breakfast or lunch. Please visit our Crater Lake Lodge Dining Room for current information about dinner rese rations. Reservations are not required for Annie Creek Restaurant or the Rim Village Café.

Can I cook in my room?

Cooking is not allowed in any of the guestrooms at Crater Lake Lodge or the Cabins at Mazama Village.
