Winter
Winter temperatures (January - March) average 19º F (-7º C) at night and 36º F (2º C) during the day. Crater Lake stands at an elevation of 7,100 feet. The average snowfall in winter is 533 inches. Snow pack on the ground ranges from 3 feet to 10 feet. Winter snow melt is unpredictable, but generally occurs by the first part of July.
Summer
Summer temperatures (July - September) average 40º F (4º C) at night and 70º F (21º C) during the day. During August temperatures can exceed 80º F. Visitors to Crater Lake should plan on packing a jacket or windbreaker in the summer and warm waterproof clothing in the winter; sunscreen and sunglasses are advisable year-round.
